About the Author
Robert L. Snow is Commander of the Homicide Branch in the Indianapolis Police Department. He is also the author of many books including Deadly Cults (Praeger, 2003), Murder 101, (Praeger, 2005), and Sex Crimes Investigation (Praeger, 2006). He also wrote The Complete Guide to Personal Home Safety, Terrorists Among Us, Looking for Carroll Beckwith, Stopping a Stalker, Family Abuse: Tough Solutions to Stop the Violence, and SWAT Teams: Explosive Face-Offs with America's Deadliest Criminals. He has also published articles in Reader's Digest, Playboy, National Enquirer, The Writer, and The Saint Detective Magazine.

A good book by one of my favorite authors, Snow discusses with explanations and stories various ways technology has changed and improved law enforcement . In the book he covers:
- Cameras and audio recording equipment in vehicles
- In car laptops
- Fingerprinting techniques
-Facial recognition technology and application
-Radios and communication
- Tasers, microwave guns and sound guns
-Accident reconstructions software
-Lie detectors
-DNA analysis
-Computers, internet crimes and finding pedophiles
Snow spends a decent amount, not to little or too much, discussing some history of law enforcement investigation and technology using stories of people that got away who might have been apprehended sooner. One of the things I appreciated was that Snow did not shy away from discussing abuses of technology by law enforcement such as DNA dragnets or video “suspicion” software. “ Software has recently been developed that allows these video cameras to flag individuals simply because they are doing something that the software identifies as unusual”(pg 153).
